Today I jumped aboard Linda Vista, a 2000 Carver 45 Voyager with new owner Steve Nohowel. We picked up Linda Vista in Detroit, MI from Tim & Linda Duperron and are heading to Annapolis, MD. Tim & Linda showed us some true Michigan hospitality. It was a real pleasure to meet them and get an opportunity to have dinner with them on Thursday night. They came down to the dock this morning at 6:00am to wish us safe passage and see their boat depart its home slip for the last time. Thanks again Tim & Linda for everything. You don't know how much we appreciate it!
Steve and I pulled off the dock at 6:30 and were on Lake Erie this morning by 7:00am. What a perfect day on the water. I told Steve on a scale of 1 to 10 this was an 11! We had a great ride across Lake Erie; all 234 miles today. We got into Port Colborne, Ontario and Sugarloaf Marina today around 4:30; way ahead of our projected arrival. We topped off our fuel and got settled into our slip by 5:30pm.
We have come to find out it is "Canal Days" here on the Welland Canal. This is like New Year's down in Key West. In a word, the place is hopping with activity and boats and booze. The marina was a bit reluctant to give us a slip because they are so busy, but when you take on over 350 gallons of diesel fuel, they tend to make some room. :)
